YOU ARE NOT FORGOTTEN. You’re in the middle of a church-wide identity crisis. As a twenty-something, you exist in a kind of limbo – a neither here nor there. You’re stuck somewhere in-between. Forgotten. Lost. You’re too old for youth group, but the adult classes don’t relevantly speak into your life. You ask: Do I even belong here? Is there a place for me? Are there others like me? Yes. Yes. Yes.
Welcome to The Table.
SETTING THE TABLE. The kitchen table might be the most important piece of furniture in any household. Don’t agree? Think of your own kitchen table. Think of the times you’ve spent around it. You sat there smiling as a child, coloring pictures and playing games. You’ve seen it covered with work and bills. You’ve shared meals, laughed, and cried with both friends and family at the table. You’ve made difficult and life-changing decisions. Some of the most wonderful (and most difficult) moments have come around the kitchen table.
In this very same way, Jesus spent critical time around a table. He sat down with his closest friends, sharing and eating with them. They gathered there together to meet and talk, to laugh and cry, to serve and be served. The rest, we know, is history.
So, what exactly is The Table? It’s a place to gather together as friends and family; It’s a place to share, laugh, and cry; It’s a place to be fed and talk about things that really matter; It’s a place to serve. Most importantly, it’s a place for you.
LAY IT ON THE TABLE. Each week a relevant topic or thought will be ‘laid on The Table’ for open discussion. This will guide the conversation for the rest of the evening. That’s as far as the planning goes. No more scripted teachings and messages. No more irrelevant, outdated answers. Just real, honest conversation that begins with you. You have gifts, joys, and hopes; you have questions, concerns, and doubts. Bring them to The Table.
Come join the conversation.
